Beets Keep Your Brain Young and Healthy
Beets aren’t the most popular vegetable, but they do have definite health benefits. In fact, a preliminary study from Wake Forest University shows that drinking beetroot juice could help brains function more efficiently.
Shocking Health Benefits of Beets
Researchers from Wake Forest University are studying the effect beetroot supplements have on older adults. They’re learning a beetroot juice supplement before working out can make the brain of older adults “perform more efficiently, mirroring the operations of a younger brain.” The beetroot supplement contains a high level of dietary nitrate, which is eventually converted into nitric oxide. The nitric oxide helps increase blood flow throughout the body and helps deliver more oxygen to the brain.

Beetroot can do a lot more than keep your mind young and healthy – it can help ensure that the rest of your body ages gracefully. Beetroots are high in folate, manganese, and potassium, which can help with high blood pressure and protect against heart disease. Beetroots can also help with digestion and boost stamina.
