July is Bereaved Parents Awareness Month, a sad but important awareness month for grieving parents. Parental depression is nothing to be taken lightly. Fortunately, counseling and family/friend support can make a big difference. Do you know someone (a friend, co-worker, or family member) who has lost a child? Try to give them a helping hand. Send a note or share a meal together. Sharing your love and support with them may help heal the wounded hearts of grieving parents.
Don’t make it a one time deal. Commit yourself to a once-a-week meeting for love and support. Need more tips for Bereaved Parents Month? Check out this parental depression article from the American Psychological Association.
