Are You Living Your Authentic Life?

Discover your Self. Every person has a purpose or a calling. These questions will help you explore your passions, values and goals to discover greater meaning and purpose in your life. When I was in grad school and in my subsequent training we were required to go through a “Discernment Process.” This was a formal prescribed process set aside each day to examine the various facets of our lives to make sure we were living our authentic life.

Your authentic self may be sleeping and need some assistance to wake up. The nugget, the seed, the gift, your song is within you us waiting to be heard, nurtured and explored.

Set aside some time alone in a peaceful place. Pour yourself a cup of tea or coffee and mindfully answer these questions in a journal of your choosing. Your responses will give you valuable information that will lead you home to your authentic SELF.

How much of your day are you angry?

Do you deal with your anger in healthy, effective ways?

Do you feel anger is a powerful signal getting your attention to deal with something you may be avoiding?


Who is your tribe?

What are the like-minded people you enjoy or would like to be around?

How often are you around these people who support you?

Do you want to discover a new community to feed your soul?


 If you started a spiritual movement or religion what would be the one sentence core of your belief?

What would the name of your organization be?

Where do you volunteer and why did you choose this place?

What is your gift to the world? Do you teach, inspire, repair, create, heal, motivate?

What do you love?


 What causes or movements do you see that you feel are the most valuable? Why?

What causes have you previously been involved with that bring you joy?

What injustice in the world makes you the angriest?

What steps have you taken to confront this injustice?

5.Explore Me More

 What are your top 3 priorities in life?

What are your top 3 values in life?

Write down 3 favorite songs. Why are they your favorites?

Where is your favorite place in nature? Why?

Who is your favorite author? Why?

What is your favorite book? Why?

What is your 3 favorite movies? Why?

What are your 3 favorite tv shows? Why?

If you created a documentary what would it be about?

If you wrote a book what would it be about?

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Why?

What inspirational people inspire you? Why?

What is your favorite color? Why?

Life is a spiral/ a concentric circle. You peel off layers as you continue to dive deeper into your authentic SELF to discover what you love, who you are, and why you are here.
