Are you overwhelmed and confused with all the food choices out there? Don’t worry with these quick tips you can eat mindfully everyday without feeling stressed about it.
- Focus. Think about where you are mentally before you sit down to eat. Are you present? If you are you thinking about what’s next on your To-Do list, then you’re not focused. Concentrate on what you’re about to put in your mouth and avoid distractions. Turn off the television. Any sort of distraction increases the chance that you’ll keep shoveling food into your face even after your body has been satiated.
- Slow down. Eat slower to truly enjoy your food. Spend your meal-time in a relaxing environment. Try putting down your fork between bites to help you eat slower. This small change can make all the difference since it takes about 20 minutes for our brain to register that we’re full. So, eating slower can keep you from over eating. Slowing down also lets us appreciate our food more. After the fourth bite, we are no longer able to taste flavors as well as we could on the first bite. Fewer bites equal more flavor. Eat mindfully and take a moment to enjoy and appreciate your food.
