Have you had a talk about obesity in your family, just like the birds and the bees talk? Almost half of our young people in this country are overweight. National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month is the time for us to begin discussing this in our homes with our children.
Childhood Obesity Awareness
During National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, talk about weight in nonjudgmental terms, in a health perspective. Also, teach your children not to bully or shame other kids in their school. Invite them to have compassion for others. It’s an important life skill. If you’re concerned about your children’s health, contact your family pediatrician.
