Souper Jenny and Café Jonah in Atlanta, Georiga are two Mindful Companies that we’d like to shine a spotlight on. Jenny Levison is not only a cookbook author but also a beloved restaurateur in Atlanta, Georgia. She owns and runs two incredibly popular and innovate restaurants in Buckhead, Souper Jenny and Café Jonah. They specialize in using and preparing locally grown food, such as delicious soups, salads, pastries, and other mouthwatering items.
Recently Jenny read Cami Walker’s book 29 Gifts: How a Month of Giving Can Change Your Life (Da Capo Lifelong Books) and she found it inspiring. She encouraged her staff to join her as they began 29 days of giving. Jenny invited all of her restaurant patrons to also participate in the 29 days of giving. She decorated her restaurants with fliers and posters and encouraged people along in this project of giving.
Projects included purchasing meals for families who were struggling, volunteering and donating time to nonprofits and raising money towards local charities. Jenny’s advice is simple — it’s about becoming more mindful about how you act through your day.
Whether it is through food (eating more mindfully) and actions, individual change and determination can bring about ripple effects within the community.
