Everyone needs a strong, authentic friendship, but developing such a bond can be a challenge.
An authentic friendship goes beyond the surface-level pleasantries; it requires us to become vulnerable and break down the walls we’ve built up to protect ourselves. The roots of a deep friendship are acceptance, compassion, and respect.
With the rise of social media, we continuously find ourselves connected with other people. Still, the connection is usually superficial, with little meaning. Social media also makes it easier for us to isolate ourselves. Many of us are busy trying to make connections with our computers and smartphones. We forget that strong friendships develop through personal interaction. It takes a lot of courage to make a deep connection with someone else. It also takes time and dedication for them to grow.
Friendships often experience turbulence. If you feel that your once authentic friendship is falling apart, consider these Mindful tips for improvement. If you currently don’t have a strong friendship, it’s never too late to make a new friend. Consider joining a hobby group, book club or volunteer at an organization you are passionate about.
