Mindful Living® is the awareness that every thought, word, and action affects you, the environment, and society. The core values listed on this page will help you to live a more mindful life. As a result, it will help you find your passion, live intentionally, face your fears, and transform your life for the better.
The ‘Core Values’ of the Mindful Living Network®
1. Reverent Respect
The fundamental core value of The Mindful Living Network® is reverent respect for all living things. Reverent respect means treating humans, animals, and the environment as sacred, with a sense of wonder, dignity, and curiosity.

- Nature
There are some simple practices to live with reverent respect for nature. These can be thanking a blooming flower for sharing beauty with you, stopping by a tree to say thank you for keeping you alive, or listening to a bird sing and telling her thank you. These behaviors are examples of having reverent respect for nature.

Humans
There are some simple practices to live with reverent respect for our fellow human beings. These can be looking respectfully into another’s eyes, deeply listening when someone is talking to you or smiling when you look at another person to show kindness.

2. Kindness
Kindness is a core tenant of mindfulness and the Mindful Living Network®. Being considerate, tender, respectful, and helpful to all sentient beings is kindness. Kindness causes you to live in a state of grace. Kindness is contagious. Kindness is like the sunshine that can melt away sadness, anger, or fear.
3. Gratitude
Gratitude is the tender energy of an open, loving, and generous heart. For example, when we appreciate humans, animals, and all living things, we flow in a state of abundant energy. Gratitude makes for a happy life and is also a great stress reliever. It is impossible to be stressed and grateful simultaneously.
4. Compassion
Compassion is at the very essence of the Mindful Living Network®. The definition of compassion literally means “to suffer together,” or in Latin, it says, “to suffer with.” For example, we celebrate and also suffer as one human family sharing life’s journey. Compassion is not sympathy. Compassion requires action and a response to the misfortune of others. As a result, compassion helps to make the world a more mindful, loving place to live.
5. Generosity
A generous soul is one of our core values. We believe that generosity is love, kindness, and grace in action. For example, unselfishness, giving of oneself to others, is a path leading to happiness and resulting in the prosperity of body, mind, and soul.
6. Authenticity
Live your authentic life. The best way to experience happiness, and your true calling in this life is to be your authentic self. When you are authentic, you become a Divine magnet. You can attract everything you need to succeed in your life’s journey. You’re your true North. When you are authentic, you reveal the true gift of you into our world. Mindful Living is living each day authentically.
7. Honesty
To be honest, means having integrity, being genuine and sincere, incorruptible, kind, heartfelt, and natural. You are created to live an honest life. There is immense power in living honestly.
8. Curiosity
Curiosity is the desire to learn and create with wonder and non-judgment. Curiosity is playful, open-hearted, and essential for a happy life. When you find yourself in a state of judgment, shifting your attitude to curiosity will result in a happier life.
9. Perseverance
Fall down 40 times, get up 41. Perseverance is a discipline. Perseverance creates strength and power. Perseverance is the foundation of confidence, success, and above all, the scaffolding for creativity.
10. Optimism
Optimism fuels you to be courageous, confident, and energetic. Optimists are the light in the room and the hope of our world. People who live mindfully are optimistic about life and, as a result, believe they can discover solutions to our challenges.
