National Farmworker Awareness Week raises awareness about farmworker conditions and honors their important contributions to our country. If you enjoy eating any food today thank a farmer. Living on a farm is work from before sunrise to past sunset. A farmer can do all their intense work and planning but can’t predict the weather that can destroy a crop in a moment. The prices for their crop fluctuates and most borrow money to keep their farms running. It is all risk; time, money, crops, weather. So why do farmers keep on working the land to produce our sacred food? Farmers are people of the earth who live the cycles of the earth. They trust their destiny, their fate, their love of family and land. When you eat your food today please make sure you thank a farmer.
