Stop the Violence Month (also known as Domestic Violence Awareness Month) brings awareness to physical and emotional abuse. If you or someone you know is being abused there are people who can help. Consider calling the U.S. National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233 (SAFE). They can provide you with personal advice and put you in contact with local shelters.

Other Tips for Stop the Violence Month

Also, beware of how you accidentally foster and nurture violence in your own life. Reading violent, terrifying books is creating violence in your psyche. Watching violent movies disturbs the soul and disturbs the mind. Are you cursing, thus spreading violent words into the world? Be aware of eating animals that have been killed violently. There is no judgment here, only questions to increase our awareness of the violence in each of our own lives.
