For this Human Rights Day, let us all remember how far we have come and recognize how far we have to go.
The History of Human Rights Day
Human Rights Day marks the establishment of the UN’s bill of human rights. It all started after the horrors of World War II, nations from across the world agreed that changes needed to be made. It was time to protect the lives of all people and their human rights.
On December 10, 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It was drafted by representatives from around the world. This important document promotes the basic rights and freedoms that are inherent to all human beings.
