Make Your Voice Heard! Register to Vote!

am I registered to vote, register to vote, voter registration deadline

Do you want a say in how this country is run? Do you want your voice to be heard? If so, you should vote! It’s a simple action, but it can do so much and unfortunately, many of us are taking our right to vote for granted. This is the year to change that. This is the year you should encourage everyone you know to register to vote.

Why Aren’t We Voting?

Millions of Americans use social media to voice their outrage and demand for change, but not enough of us are heading to the voting booth. In the 2016 election, nearly 56 percent of the U.S. voting-age population actually voted—in other words, of the 246 million Americans who are 18 years old or older, only around 137 million voted. In comparison with other countries, this is very low.

Studies show that the U.S. voter turnout trails behind other countries. Belgium and Sweden have the highest turnout rate with 87 percent and 83 percent of their voting-age population exercising their right to vote. But that’s not all. A total of 25 countries have higher voter turnout than the U.S. including Australia, France, Canada, Ireland, South Korea, Slovakia, and the U.K.

Let’s do better this year. The election is just two months away. Make sure you’re ready to make your voice heard with the voting tips listed below.

It only takes a second and all you need is some basic information: your name, birthday, social security number, driver’s license number, zip code, and/or county/town/city name.
