Millions of Americans are on the quest for love but many don’t know where to look. Match.com conducted a survey which showed that “work/school” remains the top place for people to find love.
This idea may not sound tempting to everyone; luckily, there are many other options to consider when searching to find love with that perfect mate.
- City. Are you sure that you’re in the right city for love? Every few years new reports are released about the best cities to find and maintain a relationship. Just last year the Daily Beast came up with the best 50 cities for love. They used data from the U.S. Census to rate cities based on high percentages of single men and women. They also took cities’ cultural value of marriage and the cities’ “romantic cultural ambiance” into account as well. The Daily Beast list includes cities in almost 30 states. The top five cities for love include: San Antonio, Texas; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Austin, Texas; Virginia Beach, Virginia; and San Diego, California. Boston ranks as number six. New Orleans, which has an A+ in social life, is number seven. Orlando, number 14, has an A+ in marriage life.
- Meetup groups and clubs. If after checking the list you that your city was not listed, don’t fret. There are many other places in your local community where you can find a potential mate. Relationship coaches list special interest groups as a great way to find someone with the same passion as you do, whether it’s a book club or a rock-climbing group or a special volunteer organization. Specialists also suggest looking for love at your local worship center.
- Go online. Last, but certainly not least, there is online dating. The Match.com survey showed that 20 percent of people find love through online resources. There are national websites of course, but there are also those that operate on a specific local level. According to Forbes, some of the best dating sites include: Match, EHarmony, and LavaLife.
No matter where you chose to search for “the one” remember to keep active in your quest. You never know when the right person will come along.
