Google: Sustainability is the Key Focus

This illustrious giant is known for its gracious list of employee benefits such as free food at any of its cafeterias, free laundry service, free on site hair cuts, and much more. If you want to exercise you have many choices: an onsite gym, a swim-in-place swimming pool, ping pong, foosball or a climbing wall.  At google sustainability is a core value that comes directly from their founders, and they believe being green makes business sense.

In the past, Google gave every employee a 10 percent pay hike. Google’s healthcare plan includes on-site medical staff. Google has also subsidized massages so the employee can receive a massage from a licensed therapist in a private room.

A benefit of working at Google is the 20 percent time program. Google allows its employees to use up to 20 percent of their work week at Google to pursue special projects. For every standard work week, employees can take a full day to work on a project unrelated to their normal workload.

Google sustainability takes a three step approach on managing their environmental footprint

  • They design their operations to be as efficient as possible. Alsothey have built some of the world’s most efficient data centers.
  • They use renewable sources of energy whenever possible
  • Offset the emissions they cannot otherwise eliminate

How much more innovative and mindful can you be? Google is a pioneering global company, making a difference to its employees’ lives and the community around it.
