Steve Jobs: Leaving Profound Legacy

Steve Jobs was quoted as saying:

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

This quote succinctly defines a rich life of “Mindful Living” and great mindfulness.

One of the great heroes and iconic figures of our time has died, leaving his wife and four children, and many of us grieving, empty and haunted by a feeling of great loss. It was as if we were touched by a unique visiting star; a rare asteroid passing through our galaxy. Steve Jobs also left a lasting legacy– Apple. And Apple products have swept our Earth with light and creativity.

In honor of Steve Jobs, let’s take a moment to reflect on his quote.

  • “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.” Do not covet another human being who may have wealth, beauty, intelligence, status or anything else you may believe will fix your life. Their destiny is not yours.
  • “Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.” Whether it is a religion, a corporation, a government, an educational facility, or philosophical dogma, do not subjugate the voice of your destiny to the commandments of another. Listen to the voice of your own soul.
  • “Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.” Don’t digest the dominating and popular opinions of others in the media, books, television, radio and other noise in our world to become apathetic and deaf to your own voice. This is truly the death of your soul.
  • “And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Create a diet of courage and power. Digest information on courageous heroes that have enlightened the world and nourish your own seeds of courage. Become a creative light in our world instead of cursing the darkness.

Be inspired by the short, miraculous life of Steve Jobs.
